Plonk
Spotlight Search style Python interpreter
I've just released Plonk, a Spotlight Search style Python interpreter interface for macOS. As someone who often uses Spotlight Search for quick calculations, I was left yearning for more - a way of quickly running snippets of code and bridge the gap between a calculator and a full on script. Plonk solves that problem by dropping you in to a persistent Python interpreter with a global hotkey. The `%copy` command can be used to dump the previous output to the clipboard, or `%copy <expr>` to dump the output of a specific expression/variable. Plonk plugs into system Python by default, but is also compatible with virtualenvs or uv projects. Source and package are available via GitHub: https://github.com/JosephRedfern/plonk

Judge Panel
What the panel would say.
~50 fictional judges (the platform’s .do cast plus style and archetype personas) react to Plonk. Verdicts are AI-generated and clearly framed as opinion.
Archetype
The Indie Hacker
Archetype · solo founder, ship-and-iterate
This is a quintessential weekend project: high utility, solves a personal itch, and is perfectly scoped for a solo dev. It's a clean, shippable tool that developers will love.
.do cast
Customer Success Casey
Customer Success · across all stages
This is a dream for power users with near-zero friction; the time-to-value is instantaneous. I love tools that integrate into existing workflows without needing a single onboarding email.
Style
The AI-native Purist
Style · AI as substrate, not feature
This is a useful utility, but it is purely deterministic code and lacks any AI substrate. It solves a workflow problem, not an intelligence one.
Style
The Default-Dead Skeptic
Style · capital-efficient realism
This is a clever utility tool, not a scalable business; without a clear path to monetization, it lacks the unit economics to survive 18 months independently.
Archetype
The Domain Veteran
Archetype · 15-year-in-industry founder
It's a useful utility for the daily workflow, but it's a feature, not a company. Unless you can build a moat around the developer productivity ecosystem, this remains a clever weekend project.
